Stephannie Tallent is the author of California Revival Knits and the editor of the upcoming Hitch: Patterns Inspired by the Films of Alfred Hitchcock. She's hard at work on her second book of her own designs. When she's not designing, she works as a small animal veterinarian in the Los Angeles area. She considers herself a foodie and a budding mixologist.
Growing up in Southern California and Phoenix, Arizona, she'd only seen snow as something you'd travel to, until she attended college at West Point in New York state. She learned how to ski there, borrowing skis from a friend. While deployed to Germany as a Military Intelligence officer (after graduating from West Point in 1989), she was able to take ski trips within Germany and to Italy and Austria. Her favorite memories include skiing from chalet to chalet, drinking Glühwein to warm up.
"I think it's fabulous that Jimmy Beans supports the U.S. Snowboarding and U.S. Freeskiing teams! It's so logical to combine handknitting with winter sports. Living in Southern California, I'm a little jealous of all the opportunities you guys get to wear handknits."
